Greetings,
My name is Roxanne, I am so pleased and excited to be a part of Dr. Dot’s team! I reside in the beautiful San Juan Islands as well as in the emerald city of Seattle.
Since 1989 I’ve worked full time as a licensed massage therapist providing medical~Orthopedic massage, eclectic bodywork and multi-cultural healing modalities for Resorts, Day Spa’s, Chiropractic and Physicians Clinics.
Massage~Healing work continues to be my deep calling. Being born of sturdy Scottish~Scandinavian stock is a boon for my stamina has remained strong. For years a patient referring Chiropractor touted “she has very heavy hands” in order to ease his clients apprehensions that female therapists are too weak to iron out their kinks. Not a one has been disappointed. I actually feel energized during and after giving several sessions in a row. With a propensity for learning I constantly add new modalities to my repertoire’. A recent addition is a class furthering knowledge on Sciatica treatments.
From 1996 to 2008 I worked on people from around the globe in a famous resort and I ran my own day spa as well. The resort manager called me her “work horse” and added to my schedule all the sore tight large men and deep tissue requests. Many patrons seasoned in numerous styles of bodywork returned saying I give an excellent non-painful soothing deep tissue massage. LOL! Have I convinced you yet?
Many of us massage therapists work with a legacy of “healing touch”. I’m often asked if warm stones are in my hands as they naturally turn on with warm wonderful energy which is referred to as Ki (Japanese), Chi (Chinese) or Prana (East Indian). This energy is an endowment all we humans inherently emanate. I genuinely like folks from all walks of life and feel truly blessed to assist others by being a conduit for Loves~Heartful~Healing flow.
My enthusiasm, exploration and extensive education in Holistic Health, Herbology, Foot~Hand Reflexology, 5 element Chinese Medicine and various forms of subtle energy work greatly influenced my lifestyle as a young teenager. I enjoyed alleviating achy backs and feet at family gatherings. From three to eight years old my mother had me walk on her back due to a slipped disk and I became the fave of elementary school teachers for shoulder rubs as they said my hands were very strong.
Studying and working with Harmonic Sound Healing and music has also been a passion since the late 70’s. Several years were spent participating in a UCLA’s art professor’s concerts performed with a large Tibetan gong. The engraved symbol in the gong’s center meant “IN WITH THE GOOD OUT WITH THE BAD”. Amazing cathartic results were created as well as many healing’s in group atmospheres!
In acupuncture school we worked with gongs, calibrated tuning forks and Tibetan singing bowls which are placed on the body thereby effecting acupressure points and energy meridians. A dynamic fusion is created as the harmonies, frequencies and pure tones are emitted. All of which balance your nervous system, muscles, organs and clear blocked chi. YEAH!
Sharing ideas of health is a fun pass time especially in the way of preventative maintenance for folks to heal themselves. I created a class called “Wellness Empowerment” which is a compilation of the “cream of the crop” information gathered from numerous years of study. So fulfilling to see myself and others actualize their goals for well being.
I grew up singing and dancing to rock music. My Dad often surprised me with new record albums and taught varieties of dance steps with my small feet balanced on top of his brown wingtip oxfords. The first rock concerts were the Doors, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, The Who and Pink Floyd. Being raised in Ely and Las Vegas, Nevada much time was spent swimming, water skiing, fishing, boating, hiking in the Valley of Fire and Red Rock canyons. I worked in the graphic arts field and enjoyed playing seamstress and costume designer.
Many genres of music catch my attention. A few years ago I began receiving poems and songs thru dreams and thus have been studying music theory, Guitar, Sitar and Esraj in order to recreate inspirations.
