I LOVE LIVERPOOL

Been all around the UK and my favorite place hands down is Liverpool. This is the 3rd time I visited Liverpool and as they say, third time's a charm. MUCH friendlier than Manchester and London. LOVES IT!!!!!

Here are some pics I have taken so far. I will complete the blog when I have time (made MANY videos too, so I have to edit them etc still)

Me at Albert Docks, enjoying the sun

View from my hotel room (fucking FREEZING here)

I feel like I belong here. I feel at 'home' here. I wish I could live here in Liverpool. Seriously.

Beatles EVERYWHERE, loves it!

The Mona Lennon. Cost 150 pounds and it would never fit in my luggage, so I pic will have to do. I spent LOADS in the Beatles shops.

Out with local friends at karaoke

My good friend Jamie on the left, me and his twin brother Eddy out to karaoke at the famous Grapes Pub where the Beatles used to hang out back in the Cavern days (there was no backstage at the Cavern and so the bands hung out at the Grapes until it was their turn to play). Mathew Street.

Jamie drunk as FUCK singing "I drove all night". It was so BAD that it was good. haha

The Blonde (Michelle)  is Jamie's girlfriend and the Brunette (Leah) is Eddy's girl. They were singing Dolly Parton's 9 to 5. Went over well, but my ears are craving rock and ROLL

Another mate named Jamie's Led Zepp tattoo. Mad cool innit?

I have had more fun in Liverpool in a few days than I have had in a year in Berlin. The people are SO FRIENDLY and the place is clean. Not expensive either and there is no thug/violent atmosphere going on as rumor has it. I hear so often from Mancunians how horrible Liverpool is and you know what? It's not true. I didn't like Manchester at all. I felt scared there, saw MANY fights, it was dirty as fuck and super expensive. I am a Liverpool fan, in every sense of the word.

As I said, I will add onto this later. I will list the best places to sing for the karaoke freaks, but to be honest, you can't swing a cat without finding a pub that has karaoke on. It seems EVERY place has it, aaaah, I am in love with this place.

Liverpool part 1, video I made…

———————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Jan 20, 2010…

Just returned from the Fab Four Beatles Taxi Tour (cost 50 pounds per taxi and you can bring up to 5 people in it but I went with one friend)

It's really cool, they come and get you where ever you are in Liverpool and then they bring you to all the Beatles sights. I made lots of videos, but it will take a while before I can edit the film, as I STILL can't do it on my MAC, so I have to wait to get back to Berlin to do it on my PC. UGH.

Still NOT bored with Liverpool. It does exhaust me being a tourist, as I am used to having down time but I love it here. Everyone is SO friendly and ready for a laugh. I heard many times, mostly from Londoners and Mancs, that the "Scousers are thieving cunts" but so far NO ONE has even looked at me funny, so I think that is just an ugly rumor. I like it here and no one can change my mind. NATURALLY I have found things I don't like but these are things that happen all over the UK (everything shuts early, no one wears a fucking coat outside even thought it is FREEZING!!) and people drink WAY too much. Oh, and it is hard to find a healthy restaurant. BUT other than that, I love it and would move here tomorrow if I could.

The Case history of Liverpool, check it out here:

My hilarious friend Jamie ^ and I at Strawberry Fields. He is a native Liverpudlian but has never been on a Beatles tour until now

"Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes"

My pal Jamie, a native of Liverpool and I did the Beatles tour together. It was bloody FREEZING, but fun. This is the 2nd time I did the tour (last time was 1988 with an older lady named Hilary who still does the tour in a mini bus)

Roundabout at Penny Lane…

"Behind the shelter in the middle of a roundabout
A pretty nurse is selling poppies from a tray
And though she feels as if she's in a play
She is anyway"

"In Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs
Of every head he's had the pleasure to know
And all the people that come and go
Stop and say hello"

Wolton Graveyard, where Eleanor Rigby is burried+ Beatles old hang out ^

"Eleanor Rigby, picks up the rice
In the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream

Waits at the window, wearing the face
That she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?"

George Harrisons childhood home, Arnold Grove ^

John Lennon's childhood house on Menlove Ave, Liverpool  ^

Birth place of John Lennon: Oxford Hospital, Liverpool ^

Liverpool Registry Office ^ (John Lennon married Cynthia there and John's parents wed there too)

Paul McCartney's childhood home  ^ (the 7th home the family lived in). They stayed here the longest.

Where the Beatles used to rehearse/play

Smelt like they haven't aired it out since 1960 and all

Check out my Beatles Tour video:

John Lennon statue on Mathew street and I

Got coaxed into coming into  a 70's themed disco called Flares ^ I did dance my ass off when they started playing Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 too. LOVED IT. Kinda caught a cold after leaving disco as I was rather sweaty from dancing and it froze right onto my body when I left the club. DOH!

I'm not kidding, girls/ladies/women dress in costume on normal nights, in normal bars. It is NOT Halloween or some sort of Costume party, they just dress up like this for the hell of it. I have been to a few clubs and many pubs (for karaoke) since I have been in Liverpool and I can't believe how people dress up. Guys/boys/men dressed up as a robot or super man, just out dancing like that or in this case above, just out to the pub.

MANY females in Liverpool over do it with tanning beds. They look orange. And they really really dress to impress. High heels EVERYWHERE, all the time. I love it that smoking is NOT allowed inside and unlike the stubborn Germans, they really obey and smoke outside! It's great.

I went to Smokey Mos ^ , they have karaoke on Saturday night, sound is GREAT, huge song list, short waiting time. It's kind rough looking but everyone is really friendly.

My favorite place to sing in Liverpool so far is The Crocodile. They have karaoke almost every night. Great sound, BIG song list but rather long wait.

Did not see ONE bicycle in Liverpool. I heard there never is any either. No rollerbladers either, even in summer (that would change if I moved here innit 🙂

I met SO many special people here, some old friends, some new. I love this place and would love to move here.

Last video…..

The main reason I went to Liverpool was to massages long time, loyal clients, Nickelback. They were in town Jan 16th for production day and the show was Jan 17th at the Echo Arena.

Mike, Nickelback bassist, LOVES the Dr. Dot team's massages. And we love him 🙂

Opening act Daughtry's bassist was super cool. I massaged the singer "Daughtry" himself as well, but he doesn't pose for pictures. Sorry.

Dave Gahan is fantastic

So after two days of massaging Dave again, I am thinking he is for sure one of my favorite clients. Simon Cowell, Joe Jackson too. Dave is so mellow, low maintenance for sure a big star. Generous, polite, charming, fun. He is looking fitter than ever! I swear every time I see him he looks younger. He is in tip top form now in every way. Healthy as can be. Good to see that.

Dave was kind enough to put me and my friend on the guest list for Saturday nights Berlin show. Great seats and backstage passes. The show was incredible and I am not even a big Depeche Mode fan. I only know a few of their songs. I am a rock chick, no doubt about that. Beatles, Frank Zappa, Hendrix, Led Zepp, Ac/Dc, etc. BUT I did enjoy the show. The sound was fucking PERFECT and the band was tight. Lights and video were mad cool and Dave's dancing is so erotic on stage, I could tell the whole venue wanted to shag him. Seriously.

The crowd showed them so much love, they did NOT hold still one minute and knew every word to every song. VERY high energy. No wonder he is so fucking fit.

I feel funny asking Dave for an autograph as we are buddies and he is my client and I am his therapist but this will look nice on my massage wall. He was mad cool about it, like no big deal. I adore him for that. This pic above was from last time, in June He was just getting over being ill in the pic above. I think you can tell he is much healthier now by the new picture below:

Sigur Ros was his choice of massage music again and I have to admit, they are growing on me now.

I left early because I am swamped with work at the moment and not feeling well (Kidney/Urinary Tract infection) and I left my friend there, she said she was fine alone. BUT she left after the show and didn't even go backstage as she is shy. I thought, wow, so many people in there would have LOVED to go backstage but neither of us did lol.

I did not even take a camera into the show, I nabbed this just now from Youtube for your pleasure, and you know I like to give pleasure.

The last few years I have only massaged Dave, but I have massaged Martin before too, years ago in Berlin at the Waldbuhne:

I have seen him since, at the hotel always, and he is super polite and sweet- we shared an elevator in June. I have to say, he is fucking gorgeous in person. Schwing! He smelt so nice when I massaged him that time and I asked him what scent he was wearing and it was Amen, from Thiery Mugler. (Angel for Men). Smells sooooo delicious. I went out and bought Angel for women because of that day and I sometimes still wear it (I have a favorite perfume, not tellin' you though 🙂

I massaged Andrew too but can NOT find the picture right now, and it's bothering the shit out of me, ugh! I will find it, thing is, it isn't labeled on my computer so it will take hours, hours I don't have, to find it. sigh. I have to say, I am not a big fan of their music but to know THEM is to love them. Such wonderful guys. I only know (and love) "No Good" and "Enjoy the Silence" and then I like "Just can't get enough" and my friend played me "Personal Jesus" and I love that song but only knew the cover version from Marylin Manson. So kill me why don't ya?

Gotta run. Here are some old DM things I found today on my MAC

“Enjoy the Silence”

Massaged Dave (Depeche Mode) Gahan again today, he is sooooo nice. Super healthy and fit; I swear he just gets younger every year 🙂

Again we listened to his iPod mix of Sigur Ros, he is getting me hooked them now. Great music for massage. I am going to see their (Depeche Mode) show tomorrow thanks to Dave's generosity (and his super polite assistant Tim).

Anyways, a friend of mine Bebe Buell is going to perform next week in NYC and FUCK, I will miss it as I will be in the UK to massage Nickelback and my favorite client, Simon Cowell. You can't be everywhere at once, innit?

I would LOVE to see/hear Bebe's show, I heard her before in NYC and she is sex on legs, ear candy, eye candy and you just have to love her.

Bad news: I have a kidney infection/urinary track infection, ugh!! No more wanking for a while I guess. That seems to throw me off balance, I am so sensitive. (I know, too much information, got it). I am on antibiotics again and these pills make me nauseous and dizzy and I sleep for two hours heavily, then I am awake for HOURS and can't fall back to sleep. SUPER annoying!

Gotta go, gotta eat, starving. I am on twitter more than here nowadays (dr_dot) so if you are on there, hit me up. ttyl

Project/Object with special guests… Ike Willis and Ray White !!!

The Music Of FRANK ZAPPA..and more

IKE and RAY's FIRST TOUR TOGETHER IN OVER 25 YEARS!!!
Featuring: Ike Willis, Ray White, Andre' Cholmondeley, David Johnsen, Eric Svalgard, Jim Ruffi
WINTER TOURDATES BELOW !!

Hello and how are you?!?

Hoping you had a great Christmas, Chanukah, Solstice, Kwaanza, Pagan Sun Worship day — or Atheistic hangout movie night!! Whatever you did or are doing, it's all good.

We are putting the finishing touches on what promises to be a historic and fantastic run with the two and only IKE WILLIS & RAY WHITE ….!!

Ike and Ray, as you know – remain two of Frank Zappa's most beloved and listened-to frontmen/vocalist/guitarists. Between them they appear on over 25 of Zappa's releases from 1978 onwards.

Ike and Ray have not toured together in over TWENTY FIVE (25) YEARS !!!.

The 1984 tour ended on Dec 23, 1984, Universal  Ampitheater, Universal City. Since then, as you well know, Ike Willis has toured with Project/Object for nearly 15 years, and in that time Ray White has performed with us a handful of times in San Francisco and at Festivals around the country. Those occasions remain the only times these legendary performers have shared the stage since Zappa Tour 1984…..

Now… we bring you an opportunity to see them on an exclusive New Year's/Holiday tour with Project/Object.

This tour also marks the return of an old friend and Project/Object Alumnus – Drummer Jim Ruffi. Jim did a few short runs with Ike and the band back in 1999, and he and I have been involved in several live and studio projects, including recordings with Ike Willis and unsung genius songwriter Chris McKenna. Really folks, check this man's wonderful music out…. I already know you have great taste in music !!!  http://www.myspace.com/chrismckennamusic

Anyway…….Jim Ruffi ably steps into the drumchair as a result of Eric Slick's leave of abscence. Come check him out !!

As always, the setlist will feature some old P/O favorites, some new items from the vast Zappa catalog, and, but, especially material that Ike and Ray are known for separately and together. Just hearing these voices together in harmony is a thing of wonder. Take a look on youtube at the clips of the famous NYC Pier, August 1984 show, immortalized on the  "Does Humor Belong In Music" DVD to get an idea of the dynamic these guys whip up. We hope to see you there, say hi!!!

ALSO– as always we have our "Project/Object Local Crew Program" in effect. Many of you know what this is and have kindly participated — For those new to the idea — what we do is solicit volunteers from our fan base to be "roadie for a day" and help the band in/out of the club, assist with setup etc. In exchange the "roadie" gets a free ticket to the show, a beverage or two, access to soundcheck, pictures with the alumni, and autographs from Ike and Ray on their raggedy LP covers dug up from their basement.
We still need to fill in a couple cities on this tour — especially the new ones. If you are interested in this venture —please email me  (guitartour@earthlink.net)  for further details and make the subject line "P/O LOCAL CREW <city of the gig> ".

Please don't write back with the actual words <city of the gig> in there. That will, sadly, be a failed cognition test, and we need you to be able to follow simple instructions. Being a musician -or- having a knowledge of musical equipment, and a willingness to schlep gear are all you need to qualify !

ALSO — thanks again for all the well wishes and support. My partner Cheri Jiosne is still valiantly fighting her battle against breast cancer. After 6 months of a chemo program, she reached a plateau. For about 6 weeks now she has been on a very promising program specially geared towards her type of tumor. So far — so good — and we are staying upbeat and positive every day. Still — even though some kind of beginning of a change in the US health system began yesterday with the Health Bill being passed – that won't help us financially anytime soon. I will be donated all my proceeds from this tour -as well as the profits from T-Shirt sales –  to her cause.

I continue to reach out to anyone that wants to help – (THANK YOU!!!)

There is info on www.projectobject.com, scroll down to the "THANK YOU" blog post, or you can just email me.

We have TWO options:

1) sending her a check directly (email me for address or check the site)
2) donating directly via PAYPAL : send it to the address "projectobject@earthlink.net". Note: my first name "Hugh (Cholmondeley)" will return in the confirmation email.

Every penny counts!! Even $5 will go to very good use for medications, travel to treatment etc. This sh*t is expensive!!

NOW…LET's CRANK SOME FRANK !!

SEE YOU ALL ON THE ROAD!!!!!!

Massaging the SCRIPT in NYC

Obviously I didn't take this picture myself, I just borrowed it for my blog 😉

Singer ^ Danny O'Donaghue said he really enjoyed the Deep Tissue massage I gave him. He said it was "the best massage I've ever had in my life!". Not bragging, but I hear this from everyone I massage yet each time it still makes me feel happy, grateful and content.

The Irish band The Script are in the USA on tour and have already been on the TV shows 'Ellen', 'MTV total request live' and 'The David Letterman show', all in one week! They are really on their way up to the top. I thought to myself, while in their company with all the buzz around them, this is what it may have felt like for the Beatles on their first ever US tour. Not to that extreme, but I could sense they are about to explode into the BIG time over here in the USA. They also spend most of their time in hotel rooms as they have been touring non stop for the last 2 years, which is really hard on a person. I toured a couple times with bands and it is HELL on the body. Irregular sleeping habits, eating habits, different beds every night, people around you wanting to party every day and night- and I can only imagine how hard it must be to always be away from friends and loved ones for touring artist. They must feel lonely in the hotel rooms. Everyone around them being overly friendly and kind, superficial, always wanting something from them.

 (read their Biography  HERE )

During his 2 hour massage, his iTunes were on shuffle and lots of lovely music was coming out of it. A few songs that came on were completely new to me. They sounded great and the singer sounded a bit like Stevie Wonder. I asked him "who's this?" and he said, humbly "this is us". I was like WHAT!!???? They sound great! When I told a couple friends I was on my way to massage the Script on the first night, they told me "oh, the boy band from Ireland" – so I was expecting a Back Street Boy situation, you know, lots of dancing, rather tedious music but I was very pleasantly surprised to see them, hear them, meet them. My friends were wrong. They ARE a band from Ireland and they ARE male and do have thousands of screaming females at their shows but that is all they have in common with boy bands. They write ALL of their own lyrics and music, just three members in the band (as I said, the bassist is a touring bass player). They don't wear matching costumes on stage and/or dance like 'Dancing Fools', they are fantastic. They opened for Paul McCartney on one whole tour (ugh!! jealous!!). They all praised Paul and said how nice he was to them etc. Swoon.

Guitarist Mark Sheehan got a massage from my assistant Michelle. I will give him a beating personally next time though 🙂 haha

Fame is not as wonderful as one may think it. I have been around famous people most of my life and most seem trapped by their fame. Isolation and panic are always present. I feel for these folks. The least I can do is make them feel good with the best massage I can possibly give them. That is exactly what I did for the Script. I know they will never forget my hands of steel. The bassist was a bit afraid of my hands haha, as he heard how strong they were, but I showed him that I adjust my strength according to whom I am massaging and how their muscles feel to me. The bassist, Ben Sargeant , from the UK,  is a touring (and studio sometimes?) member for the band, not a core member. He is a sweety-pie too. They all are. In fact my fucking face hurt from laughing after being around them.

Ben the bassist ^

They are all so down to earth and ALL have their heads on straight; no bullshit. They are very driven, honest, HUMBLE and just plain fucking NICE. They are fun, hilarious yet not sarcastic or mean (like some up and coming bands I have met in the past). They are NOT letting success go to their heads. None of them seem to have a vain bone in their body, just plain cool. Their Mom's did a good job raising these guys, that is for SURE. Their tour manager (not mentioning his name even though he is a close friend) keeps things running super smooth too, they are on a roll!

 Glen Power, the drummer ^

I really sound like a walking add now for the Script lol. If I didn't like them or if they were pricks to me I would surely write about it, but I only have nice things and thoughts about these guys.  I just have a feeling they will be the next U2. But not as Pompus as Bono, haha. Snap!

Dethklok in NYC

You simply have to read about this band to understand:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dethklok

Bassist Bryan Beller and his wife Kira are friends of mine. Bryan and Mike, below are playing with Dethklok currently. It was a very unique experience for me to see this show. Not used to that kind of music (extremely hard rock, almost like death metal I guess) but the animation they show during their concert was so bizarre. Words fail me. Probably because it is 10 am and I am STILL up. I think I have strep throat 🙁 FUCK!! Gotta get to bed. Tour dates below

x

Frank Zappa alum and friend, Mike Keneally . I haven't seen him in person since I was on the 1988 Frank Zappa tour! We have kept in touch online, but it was GREAT to see him again. SUPER nice guy, AMAZING guitarist.

The Happy Mondays still got it

It was such a BLAST hanging out with the Happy Mondays again. Shaun is the sweetest artist ever. On their night off in NYC we went out to karaoke (my idea 🙂 and Shaun sang "Ring of Fire" with me (he wanted to do Dean Martin -Memories.. but DJ didn't have it, AND Frank Sinatra "Something Stupid" with me, but again, didn't have it). So he and I did Ring of Fire together and we did not do it justice, I have to say. haha,  BUT it was fun sucking at a song with him. hahaha. He only did it cause I pleaded for him to do it, so don't think he is a karaoke fan, he is just up for a good laugh and that's why everyone loves Shaun.

Shaun Ryder ^ me and tour manager John at Nevada Smith's Irish bar

The man has it ^  Hard to describe, but he is so charming it's unreal.  And he will make you laugh non-stop as well. Swoon.

Chrissi came along and belted out several tunes too. Jonesy was there too but no pics of him 🙁

Andy, the Smiths guitarists (good mate of Shaun's) was also in tow. (he did NOT sing karaoke 🙂

Some soul sista's wanted in on the picture action

Fat Bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round! (to the far right is Olay, mate of Andy's)

The night of the show I was not working massages, just hanging out and raising hell. FUN!!

John (tour manager) and I backstage at the Roseland Ballroom

The band was tight!!! ^

The Happy Mondays on tour again (playing in NYC this Friday)

My old pals the Happy Mondays are back and I love them more than ever. Check them out on tour:
